Bilfinger Berger Building, Frankfurt, Germany
What are you working on right now?
Iām assessing building quality and evaluating whether German Sustainable Building Certification and Leadership in Environmental and Energy Design (LEED) certification can be obtained.
What is your most important tool of the trade?
There are two things ā my mind and my computer! My mind helps me to understand complex correlations and to carry out my tasks effectively. My computer enables me to research and exchange information quickly.
How do you describe your job to friends?
I say that I inspect buildings over their entire lifecycle, in other words covering all phases from construction, on to operation and all the way through to demolition.
Which aspects of your job do you find particularly interesting?
My job is extremely varied. I work on some projects intensively over a longer period of time, whereas others have to be completed quickly. I sometimes work as part of a team, and other times independently.
What do you like to do when you are not at work?
That depends on the time of year. I love skiing in the winter. In milder weather, I enjoy trekking ā not just to keep fit, but as a way of unwinding.
