Preferred bidder for €550 million project near Melbourne: Bilfinger Berger expanding its concessions business in Australia
In the Australian state of Victoria, a project company led by Bilfinger Berger has been named preferred bidder for the design, financing and construction of a 25-kilometer long section of the Peninsula Link Highway, creating an improved traffic connection to the Mornington Peninsula south-east of Melbourne. The company will subsequently operate the route for a period of 25 years.
The public private partnership project has an investment volume of €550 million. Construction work will be carried out entirely by Bilfinger Berger Australia’s subsidiary Abigroup. Bilfinger Berger holds a one-third stake in the project company and receives contractually-fixed payments from the State during the operating period.
Australia, where Bilfinger Berger is currently delivering privately-financed projects in the healthcare and justice sectors, is among the Group’s core markets for its global concessions business.
